Paul Alexander, MSc., P.Eng., PMP

Chief Safety Officer

Paul Alexander has been employed with the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) since October 2012 and held the role of Director of Safety from 2016 to 2021. Paul continues to serve as Chief Safety Officer (CSO), a role he has held since May 2016.

Paul was born and raised in St. George’s, Newfoundland and Labrador and holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia and a Masters in Science in Naval Architecture from the University College of the University of London.

Before joining the C-NLOPB, Paul was Assistant Deputy Minister for Marine Services with the province of Newfoundland and Labrador for a period of five years. Prior to that, he held a position with Spectrolgroup as Lead Inspection Engineer for the Terra Nova FPSO for two years and served in the Royal Canadian Navy for twenty-one years in various capacities as a senior Naval Engineering Officer.

Paul and his wife have four children and five grand-children.
