Overseeing the activities of the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador offshore oil and gas industry requires the full attention of almost 90 dedicated professionals here in St. John’s. This was a very busy year for us, but staff still found time to give back to the community.
Reflecting on what we’ve accomplished in 2016, it makes me proud to be part of an organization whose employees are energetic, caring, helpful and generous. Throughout the year, our fundraising initiatives enabled us to make contributions to the:
In addition, staff gave their time to Parent Teacher Associations, children’s sports teams, Sunday Schools, Girl Guides, Cubs and Scout groups. Collectively, some of our staff lost over 500 pounds through Weight Watchers and their leader, a C-NLOPB employee, won Leader of the Year.
Time was also spent with community groups and schools raising awareness of what we do and providing clarity on our roles and responsibilities. Staff helped organize conferences and participated in student visits to help inspire and educate. Being dedicated professionals, our staff is active in their professional organizations at the local and national level and continuously participate in professional development opportunities.
Our employees have a great sense of community and take pride in their job as a regulator. The core values we share are apparent in both our professional and personal lives and make up the very fabric of who we are.
From all of us at the C-NLOPB, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year.
