Christmas for me has always been a time of reflection. Having worked with the C-NLOPB for close to ten years, I can’t help but reflect on the many ways staff has gone above and beyond through volunteering, fundraising, community involvement, student engagement and more.
During 2017, we began to use the hashtag #CNLOPBGivesBack to highlight just how we give back to the community. Several of the organizations we supported this past year were:
In addition to donating time and much needed funding to these very worthwhile causes, staff also sat on steering committees of professional organizations, hosted several technical student workshops and delivered numerous presentations during technical events and at various schools. And this doesn’t include time spent giving back once staff returned home for the day. They also found time to coach several teams, organize fundraising activities for causes such as a Reason for the Rink and the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada, donate to the Buckmaster’s Circle Community Centre, continue to lead Girl Guide and Scout groups and even garner support for an automated external defibrillator registry in the province.
Staff take immense pride, not only in working together to ensure that the health and safety of workers and the protection of the environment are paramount in all Board decisions, but in continuing to encourage and support each other, both at work and within their communities.
As we reflect upon the past year during this holiday season, I’m proud to highlight the work and dedication of our staff. I am fortunate to be surrounded by good, caring people who take care of each other both at work and at home. They make the world a better, safer and happier place.
So from all of us at the C-NLOPB, please enjoy this beautiful Christmas season and have a wonderful, happy and healthy New Year!
