Francine Wight

Provincial Representative of Offshore Employees 

Francine was born and raised in St. John’s and holds and Bachelor of Science in Biology (Honors) and a Masters degree in Environmental Science from Memorial University. At the beginning of her career, Francine spent approximately 5 years working with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Federal Government on research initiatives related to the oil and gas and mining sector, as well as the development of the Oceans Act.

Francine started working with the oil and gas industry in 2001 and since that time has worked with two local operators along with Energy, Research and Innovation in a variety of roles focused on Environment, Health and Safety, Regulatory and Emergency Response. The majority of positions she has held had an offshore component and found her travelling offshore to support assessments, audits, inspections and investigations. She has served as a member on the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers Safety and Environmental Committees and has served as an appointed industry representative on the Environmental Studies Research Fund (ESRF) Management Board. Francine is currently working as a consultant to the energy sector.

Francine resides in St. John’s with her husband and 2 children and is an active volunteer in the community.
