Hibernia has informed the C-NLOPB that a crack has been discovered in lifeboat #3 where the interior floor connects to the seat. The extent of damage has yet to be determined. The lifeboat has been taken out of service for assessment.
Due to the reduced lifeboat capacity on the Hibernia platform, the Operator has reduced the Persons on Board (POB) from 243 to 228. Four personnel have been transferred to a stand-by vessel and will remain in the field while 11 others have been returned to shore.
All actions taken by HMDC are in accordance with their internal incident response planning, which is reviewed and approved by the C-NLOPB in advance as part of their Authorization process.
The C-NLOPB is exercising its oversight role and will require additional actions where necessary.
