Husky Energy has reported that at approximately 0600hrs today during routine inspection of equipment, it was observed that the Choke and Kill lines, which are part of the rig’s well control system, had separated at the upper housing section resulting in impairment to the ability to circulate through the Choke and Kill lines.
Full control and pressure integrity of the well has not been compromised. The BOP stack was fully tested on November 18 and 19 and all subsea stack equipment is fully functional. A risk assessment is being conducted to evaluate the plan forward.
In our oversight role, the C-NLOPB is in communication with senior officials at Husky. Once the risk assessment is complete, Husky will conduct repairs to Choke and Kill lines.
Updates will be provided as further information becomes available.
