False Fire Indication in Helicopter Engine

On August 11, 2012, a Cougar helicopter returning to St. John’s from an offshore installation (Hibernia) had an indication of a fire in one of its engines. The flight landed safely. It was a false indicator. There were no passengers onboard. A SAR helicopter was launched and escorted the flight to St. John’s.
