Hibernia Management and Development Company (HMDC) reported that an employee on the West Aquarius Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit experienced a major hand injury while conducting maintenance on the Blowout Preventer (BOP). The incident occurred on August 15 when the worker’s fingertips became caught between moving equipment. The injured person immediately reported to the medic and was transferred to St. John’s by medevac for further treatment. The area was secured and work on the BOP was suspended pending investigation by the Operator.
