Statoil Canada Ltd. has reported that on January 29, 2016, a helicopter operated by Canadian Helicopters Canada departing from the West Hercules struck a bird during lift off. The helicopter returned to the heli-deck. Passengers were briefed on the occurrence and disembarked from the helicopter. There were 12 passengers and two crew members onboard.
An aircraft maintenance engineer was dispatched to the West Hercules on January 31st. Following inspection the helicopter was confirmed to be safe for flight and returned to St. John’s with no further incident.
