Hibernia Management and Development Company (HMDC) have reported an unauthorized discharge of glycol from the Blowout Preventer (BOP) of the West Aquarius drilling rig. The release occurred on February 15, 2016. HMDC estimates that 1317L of glycol was released to the sea during the incident.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that a hose had parted just below sea level. The incident had no impact on the functionality of the BOP.
The C-NLOPB is reviewing the incident and HMDC is continuing its investigation.
