Scheduled Flight Turnaround

Suncor Energy notified the C-NLOPB that a helicopter en route to the Terra Nova FPSO returned to base and landed safely at approximately 8:10 a.m., January 11, 2012. The helicopter was approximately 20 miles out from St. John’s when an intermittent ‘Engine Fire’ indicator light came on. There was no fire and no secondary indicator light. The flight turned around as a precautionary measure and landed safely in St. John’s wherein passengers were briefed. Cougar has examined the aircraft and determined that it was an indication only and is in the process of replacing the fire detection sensor.
