Small Flash Fire on Drill Floor of Henry Goodrich – Update

Over the weekend, Husky Energy completed the offshore part of its investigation into the July 11 fire which occurred on the drill floor of the Henry Goodrich. The investigation concluded that the fire was caused when a flammable substance was ignited by the friction between the drill string and the rotary table.

Corrective actions were taken by the Operator to address safety concerns, including replacement of the rotary table bushing. Drilling operations were allowed to resume. The investigation into the root cause is continuing.
