Scheduled Flight Turnaround

March 25, 2013

On March 21, a Cougar helicopter with 3 passengers on board made a precautionary return to base. The aircraft was en route to the West Aquarius and was approximately 48 miles from St. John’s when the collective channel of the automated flight control system (auto pilot) would not engage. Although not a safety of flight issue, the flight crew returned to base to have the system inspected.
