Update – Spill at White Rose Field

November 21, 2018

There was one PAL flight this afternoon but visibility was not adequate to make any observations. This was the ninth flight deployed since the spill occurred on November 16th. The previous four flights in recent days have not observed any sheens.

Four vessels continue to be in the field participating in wildlife observations, and one additional vessel is preparing to mobilize.

To date, 15 oiled seabirds have been sighted. Four seabirds have been recovered and are either at, or are being transported to, the Seabird Rehabilitation Centre in St. John’s.

Tomorrow (November 22nd), the C-NLOPB and its federal and provincial partner agencies overseeing Husky’s response will participate in a teleconference to once again review the spill and response measures to date.

The C-NLOPB has launched its investigation into the incident.
