Hibernia Management and Development Company (HMDC) reported a high potential near miss on the West Aquarius drilling rig.
On November 28, 2015, a tugger line came into contact with an emergency strip lighting fixture causing the battery panel to part. The front panel and four batteries fell to the drill floor from a height of approximately 54 meters. The combined weight of the objects was approximately 726 grams.
The area was cordoned off and secured and an inspection was carried out. There were no injuries. HMDC is conducting an internal investigation.
