Pursuant to the Energy Safety and Security Act (2015) and the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Cost Recovery Regulations, the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) is responsible for recovering the costs associated with regulating offshore oil and gas activity from applicants and operators on behalf of both governments.
Annually, the C-NLOPB is required to post a schedule of formula fees (see tables below). These formula fees will be updated each fiscal year upon confirmation of the C-NLOPB’s budget. The C-NLOPB’s fiscal year runs from April 1st-March 31st.
The Regulations, which came into force on April 1, 2016 can be accessed here:
The C-NLOPB and the Canada Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (CNSOPB) have jointly developed Cost Recovery Guidelines, which can be found here: https://www.cnlopb.ca/pdfs/guidelines/costrecovery.pdf
(Note: All fees are in Canadian dollars.)
