Call for Bids NL16-CFB03 (Labrador South Region) Closing Date Confirmed
The Board has now completed the Labrador Shelf Offshore Area Strategic Environmental Assessment Update (Labrador SEA Update). As a result, the previously announced closing date for Call for Bids NL16-CFB03 of December 22, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. NST, has been confirmed.
There will be no changes to the terms or conditions of the sample licences as provided in the Call for Bids.
The Labrador SEA Update featured extensive and valued engagement from Indigenous Groups, governments and stakeholders and was required to be completed prior to the close of this Call for Bids. The C-NLOPB would like to thank the Labrador SEA Update Working Group, co-chaired by the C-NLOPB and the Nunatsiavut Government, for their dedication and collaboration during this multi-year effort. For the information of potential bidders, there are no substantive changes to potential restrictions and mitigations in the final version of the Labrador SEA Update, compared to the consultation draft of the Labrador SEA Update that potential bidders would have seen in August 2021.
The December 22, 2021 closing date also required approval by the federal and provincial governments to shorten the previously planned 120 day period, between the completion of the Labrador SEA Update and the close of the Call for Bids. This fundamental decision has been approved by both governments.
