The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) is inviting comments on the draft report “Strategic Environmental Assessment Labrador Shelf Offshore Area”. A Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is a broad-based approach to examining the potential environmental implications of a proposed program or policy decision.
The results of the Strategic Environmental Assessment will be used to assist the C-NLOPB in its decisions to issue exploration licenses for marine areas on the Labrador Shelf.
This SEA Report was drafted by the Board’s consultant, Sikumiut Environmental Ltd, with input from a working group, co-chaired by representatives of the C-NLOPB and the Nunatsiavut Government, with representatives from federal and provincial government departments and agencies, One Ocean, the Fish, Food and Allied Workers Union and the Southeastern Aurora Development Corporation.
Electronic copies may be downloaded from the CNLOPB website at www.cnlopb.nl.ca and the Nunatsiavut Government’s web site at www.nunatsiavut.com .
