The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board
(C-NLOPB) is responding to information that Bristow, a helicopter operator in the Norwegian offshore area, grounded and inspected its fleet of Sikorsky S-92A helicopters after a flight experienced engine trouble and returned to base.
In our oversight role, the C-NLOPB is in contact with the Operators and Cougar to determine what actions are being taken to ensure there is no similar problem with the S-92A fleet used in the Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Area. The C-NLOPB has been informed that Cougar has inspected its fleet, deemed it airworthy and the fleet is in service today. The C-NLOPB will provide updates as new information warrants.
