The Canada-Newfoundland Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NOPB) is investigating a spill of some 200 barrels of crude oil that occurred just before 1 a.m. November 21, 2004 during operations on the Terra Nova FPSO. The FPSO is located 350 kilometers east southeast of St. John’s in the Newfoundland & Labrador offshore area.
Upon notification of the incident, the C-NOPB’s Chief Conservation Officer (CCO) ordered the suspension of production operations on the FPSO.
The Board has commenced a formal investigation of the events relating to the spill in accordance with the Conservation and Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Policy under the Accord Implementation Acts.
