The C-NOPB is announcing that as of today, the Terra Nova FPSO is authorized to re-start its produced water processing system and begin producing from wet wells, following the spill on December 20.
Petro Canada has concluded the 2-barrel spill was residual crude oil from the November 20 spill and that this oil was flushed to the sea during the start-up process. While this conclusion appears reasonable, the C-NOPB will continue with its own independent investigation.
The authorization has been issued with specific conditions for enhanced prevention, early detection and response capability.
